JUNIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Reports to the Controller.

JOB OVERVIEW:

A Junior Staff Accountant is an accounting professional who works closely with other members of the Finance team to facilitate proper financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.  The main responsibility of the Junior Staff Accountant is to assist in assembling and reporting the facts that cumulatively represent the financial position of the company.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Perform general journal entries
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to subledgers
  • Account for fixed assets & depreciation
  • Compile annual personal property information by AST office
  • Account and amortize prepaid assets & calibration gases
  • Assist in completing Finance department special initiatives
  • Implement and respect internal control procedures
  • Prepare audit selections and workpapers for auditor review
  • Collaborate with Operations personnel on required spend analysis
  • Analyze trends for forecasting and budgeting purposes
  • Assist in the creation of presentations and reporting packages for AST’s Private Equity owners
  • Miscellaneous reporting as requested

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
  • 0-5 years of experience in accounting
  • Motivation and desire to achieve company goals
  • Intermediate skill level (or above) in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for conducting business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both with internal customers and external vendors
  • Professional demeanor for interacting with internal customers and Operations personnel
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Valid drivers’ license
  • Approved to be employed in the United States

  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of a typical office environment
    • Sitting/standing
    • Possible light lifting
