CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER / VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE

Responsibilities

  • Serve on the Executive Team of a large, privately held company as the senior finance professional
  • Report directly to CEO
  • Precise title (CFO or VP) depends on candidate experience
  • Lead all aspects of accounting, finance, and HR with oversight of approximately 10 staff members and numerous outsourced service providers.  Improve existing systems and redesign staffing model as needed.
    • Accounting Controls and Reporting
      • Oversee comprehensive set of accounting controls and recordkeeping across the following functions/staff:
        • Accounts Receivable and cash management
        • Purchase Orders and Accounts Payable
        • Senior staff accountant to maintain general ledger and perform monthly bank reconciliations
      • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for CEO and Board of Directors
      • Coordinate with external CPA group(s) for compliance with all government reporting requirements and tax filings
    • Financial Analysis and Strategy
      • As part of Executive Team, improve operating profits of existing lines of business through routine analyses (e.g., cash flow projections) and through ad hoc and creative analyses of large data sets (product categories, sales locations, etc.)
      • Conduct financial analyses and due diligence for capital investments, contract negotiations, organic growth opportunities, and potential acquisitions
    • Human Resources and Risk Management
      • Oversee payroll, 401k and other employee benefits
      • With rest of Executive Team, systematize employee policies & procedures, document retention and information security, other areas of potential risk
  • Liaise with IT for accounting software, inventory management system, and point-of-sale systems

Requirements

  • Transparent and proactive communication with staff and other executive leaders
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or a related subject
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Ten-plus years of accounting, financial, and management experience within organization of at least 25 employees or $25 million annual revenue; 15-plus years preferred
  • Accounting experience in an inventory-intensive sector (e.g., manufacturing, distribution, or retail) and/or multi-location business preferred

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary $80k – $130k annually
  • Performance bonus up to 15% of base salary
  • Employer 401k contribution as part of profit-sharing plan
  • Medical and dental insurance (partially paid by employer).
